Triumph of All Sorts
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. Many schools across Ireland are taking part in activities in preparation for this important occasion.
In our school, children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class are taking part in a drama called ‘Triumph of All Sorts’.
We are all getting involved in the play and many of us have received roles. We enjoy spending time rehearsing our lines and learning how to act. There will be lots of music and dance involved in the play. Everybody will be dressing up in old fashioned clothes that were worn by the people in these times.
The teachers in our school are putting a lot of hard work into the drama to make sure that it is enjoyable for everyone. We have learned a lot about life back in 1916. We can’t wait to perform and we hope to see you all there for a great night.

Children in 2nd to 6th class are participating in an e-twinning project with Carmelitas SanJuan in Alicante, Spain. Each child created their own hand-made Christmas card which was then sent to Alicante. There was a great buzz in the school when the parcel arrived from Alicante and the children were delighted to receive the card from their individual e-twin.
Here they are with their cards ready to send to Alicante:
Digital Schools Award
We were awarded the 'Digital Schools of Distinction Award' in May 2015. (See www.digitalschools.ie for information on this award). This was a huge honour for the school. We put a lot of work into technology use in the school and were delighted that this work was recognised. The children in all classes use technology on a regular basis. We have a set of tablets that are used in each classroom on a time-tabled basis and we also have laptops that the children in the senior classes use.
There are a great number of apps used to enhance learning in Literacy & Numeracy in particular but also in science, visual arts etc.
