Postcards sent far & wide...and arriving from afar!
Exciting times in 3rd class...pupils were busy writing a postcard to each of the 37 participant schools in their eTwinning project "Postcards From Afar". Pupils made flags of each of the participating countries to decorate the eTwinning notice board and there has been great excitement when each new card arrives.
Science in Second Class
Pupils in second class found out all about insulation recently with an experiment involving vaseline, plastic bags and bowl of iced water. Pupils coated one of their hands with vaseline and covered it with a plastic food bag / plastic glove and the other hand had nothing only the plastic glove on it.
Pupils quickly discovered that the vaseline acted as a type of insulation when their hand was dipped into the iced water.
Welcoming Liam Mc Carthy to our school
We were delighted to welcome the Liam Mc Carthy cup on Wednesday 26th September. This was a wonderful occasion for the school as Nickie Quaid, former teacher and Limerick's goalie as well as David Reidy, former pupil accompanied the cup to Bruree. All the classes got the opportunity to get their photo with the cup and many of the children got autographs and photos with their heroes.
Physical Activity:Tour Of Europe Challenge
All the children in the school took part in a running initative called 'Tour of Europe' . The Active School Committee explained the initative to all the classes and distributed a poster of all the various places they could 'run' to in Europe. The older classes did laps of the football pitch and the younger classes did a lap of the school yard. 1lap=1km
We kept track of journey using pins and pictures and connected them with string.
